Accreditation and Affiliations

International University for Graduate Studies is accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis, a Caribbean nation that has been a member of the British Commonwealth since 1983. Accreditation from a sovereign country is the highest form of accreditation. IUGS is included in the World Higher Education Database, maintained by the International Association of Universities. In addition, the University has:

• Approval for tuition reimbursement and payment from major U.S. hospitals, unions and government and private institutions;

• Co-sponsored “Continuing Education Programmes” with U.S. and International certification and licensing agencies and organisations;

• Graduates who are in private practice and hold or have held key positions in many academic, government and private institutions.


How Long does it take to earn the degree?

On a part-time basis, most candidates are anticipated to complete their Degree Requirements within eighteen months. The determining criteria are dedication and the candidate’s previous academic and professional portfolio.

 

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Doctor of Public Health (Dr.PH.) and Doctor of Healthcare Administration (D.H.A.) Degree Requirements

  • Hold a professional M.D. degree or its equivalent, D.O, Pharm. D, D.D.S., D.M.D., D.V.M. , D.C., D.N.Sc. (automatically qualify)

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree

  • Documented pertinent professional experience

For the Ph.D.

  • 90 relevant post-baccalaureate credits including approved continuing education credits in transfer prior to or after admission

  • Candidates will take 30 credits at International University for Graduate Studies as follows:

    • A three (3) credit course at the 9 day Residency in St. Kitts
    • A fifteen (15) credit dissertation and oral defense
    • A twelve (12) credit approved Internship which may have been previously taken (minimum of 12 weeks required)

 

For the Dr.PH. and D.H.A.

  • 102 relevant post-baccalaureate credits including approved continuing education credits in transfer prior to or after admission

  • Candidates will take 30 credits at International University for Graduate Studies as follows:

    • A three (3) credit course at the 9 day Residency in St. Kitts.
    • A twelve( 12) credit research project
    • A fifteen (15) credit approved Internship which may have been previously taken (minimum of 18 weeks required)..

 

Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.) and Masters of Healthcare Administration (M.H.A.) Degree Requirements

  • Hold a professional M.D. degree or its equivalent, D.O, Pharm. D, D.D.S, D.M.D, D.V.M. , D.C., D.N.Sc. (automatically qualify)

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree.

  • Documented pertinent professional experience

For the M.P.H.

  • 72 relevant post–baccalaureate credits including approved continuing education credits in transfer prior to or after admission

  • Candidates will take 27 credits at International University for Graduate Studies as follows:

    • A three (3 )credit course at the 9 day Residency in St. Kitts
    • A twelve (12) credit thesis and oral defense
    • A twelve (12) credit Internship which may have been previously taken (minimum of 6 weeks required).

 

For the M.H.A.

  • 72 relevant post–baccalaureate credits including approved continuing education credits in transfer prior to or after admission

  • Candidates will take 27 credits at International University for Graduate Studies as follows:

    • A three (3) credit course at the 9 day Residency in St. Kitts
    • A twelve (12) credit thesis and oral defense
    • A twelve (12) credit Internship which may have been previously taken (minimum of 6 weeks required).

 

For the Masters of Science in Public Health (M.S.P.H.) and Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration (M.S.H.A.)

  • Hold a professional M.D. degree or its equivalent, D.O, Pharm. D, D.D.S, D.M.D, D.V.M. , D.C., D.N.Sc. (automatically qualify)

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree.

  • Documented pertinent professional experience

 

For the M.S.P.H.

  • 72 relevant post–baccalaureate credits including approved continuing education credits in transfer prior to or after admission

  • Candidates will take 21 credits at International University for Graduate Studies as follows:

    • A three (3) credit course at the 9 day Residency in St. Kitts
    • A six (6) credit written project and oral examination
    • A twelve (12) credit Internship which may have been previously taken (minimum of 6 weeks required).

For the M.S.H.A.

  • 72 relevant post–baccalaureate credits including approved continuing education credits in transfer prior to or after admission

  • Candidates will take 21 credits at International University for Graduate Studies as follows:

    • A three (3) credit course at the 9 day Residency in St. Kitts
    • A six (6) credit written project and oral examination
    • A twelve (12) credit Internship which may have been previously taken (minimum of 6 weeks required).
